Recent developments in the Middle-East and rising political tensions with the US killing of Iranian military leader Major General Qassim Suleimani at the beginning of 2020 are leading military and cyber experts to speculate on the opening up of a new front in cyber warfare.

 

There is plenty of existing evidence for the likelihood of Iran using cyber attacks as part of a larger conflict with the US and US-allies. Iran has been described as a "master of hybrid warfare" and has a history of utilizing cyberattacks in conjunction with targeted attacks on regional, US-allied infrastructures.
